An on-seam pocket has its opening on (or in) the seam. Sometimes this is a zippered opening; sometimes it is a welt pocket opening; sometimes, it is just a plain opening. This is opposed to a pocket that is not placed on the seam line, such as a patch pocket. Oftentimes, these pockets are hidden in the side seams of trousers, or placed in the front seam lines of a princess cut jacket.
