"Windrow"-Asphaltierungsverfahren

I would leave "windrow" in English - apparently it's a uniquely American paving technique, possibly even unique to the Western US (I have seen it in action - just didn't know it was windrow paving that I was witnessing...).
While Ernst does give Schürfgrat and Streifhaufen as possible translations for windrow, there is not a single site to support either one of those terms.

As you can see from the excerpt below, windrow paving involves dumping the material in front of the paver, which then picks it up and lays it down in a smooth, even layer. The "windrow" is the heap of material, but searches on "Haufen", "Schwaden", and "Langmahd" (the terms listed in Bucksch, WB Bau, Ingenieurbau & Baumaschinen) also remained fruitless. Thus my suggestion to leave windrow in English.

Contractors in western states have their own way of achieving paving continuity. Typically, belly-dump trucks lay a windrow of hot mix on the grade ahead of the paver. Next, a windrow pickup machine elevates the HMA into the paver. “We try not to stop the paver,” says FNF’s Gully. “We don’t stop the paver and we don’t bump the paver. We have found that the windrow elevator is the best way to keep the paver moving.”

Hope this helps a bit.
