Flemish term

nijverheidshelpers

Flemish to English Medical Medical (general)
Is 'industrial first-aid helpers' a reasonable translation?

context (from a brief description of the medische dienst of an industrial company, for internal use):

De medische dienst is gelegen ter hoogte van straat 5 en is herkenbaar aan het logo (witte kruis op groene achtergrond). Er is steeds een verpleegkundige aanwezig op werkdagen tussen 07:45 en 16:15 uur. Buiten deze uren wordt medische hulp geboden door de nijverheidshelpers.

Further googling yields the discovery that 'bedrijfshulpverlening' is translated in NL as 'in-company emergency services' (try googling NEN 4000).

Thanks Chris and Ariser for the tips. However, I have the impression from examining a fews course descriptions that a Belgian BHV (unlike a Dutch BHV) is only trained for and used to provide medical assistance (the NL version apparently also includes dealing with minor fires). I'm not especially keen on variants of 'safety', since HSE is primarily concerned with prevention, while the role of a BHV is to provide assistance in case of accidents.
Ariser Feb 13, 2007:
As Chris pointed out, nijverheidshelper seems to be the Flemish version of BHV. Reference http://www.vlaamsbrabant.be/werkenenleren/edukadee/edukadeeC...
In that case, see question: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/118705

Is this the Flemish version of bedrijfshulpverleners or BHV'ers...?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I actually used 'emergency response helpers', but 'industrial first aiders' whould be OK too. IMO 'corporate first response' won't work in the UK, where 'corporate' is not regarded as a synonym of 'company'."

Corporate First Responders (CFRs)

Nijverheidshelper is a regular employee with as an additional duty to provide first relief/first aid in company emergencies: employees certified in first aid.

Or "emergency responders"

The references serve primarily as clarification for the function, not as translation reference. Googling CFR's yields many examples.
It seems more than one alternative would be acceptable.
