Medical - Medical (general) / job title/qualification
French term or phrase: Ancien interne
from a staff list on a hospital form:

Dr Xxxx Xxxxxx
Ancien interne des Hopitaux de Poitiers

I also have 'Ancien Chef de Clinique' and 'Ancien Assistant'

It's the 'ancien' that's confusing me - does this mean 'senior' or 'former'? If it's 'Former Intern', is it a qualification rather than a previous job title?
