: My apologies to you; I have just seen 'orifice' in a technical and engineering context, an 'orifice meter' even being used to establish pressure differences generated by a flow velocity through a hole in a plate placed between flanges in a pipeline. Sorry

adjustable aperture
Considering other technical uses for 'verstellen' (to adjust) and Blende - some sort of hole seems to be involved here rather than trim or decorative facing, hence(aperture), I'd take a bet on 'adjustable aperture'.

I\'ve just seen that Total Recall also suggests \'adjustable\'. Let\'s then also try \'variable aperture\'. (I could go along with the \'shutter\' (as in a camera, but not the \'orifice\', which carries too much of openings in the living body to warrant consideration.)
