German term

Stockwinde

German to English Tech/Engineering hoisting equipment
In a document describing the installation of a radio antenna tower and antenna, in a list of equipment (mostly hoisting equipment) provided by the vendor, including:

Stockwinde
Stockbaum
Greifzug
Zughub
Fahrstuhl
Schlüpfe
Schäkel
Kleinwerkzeuge

No other context available.

From my googling, a Stockwinde is apparently a winch that can be used for both raising and lowering at a controlled rate and for relatively accurate positioning of the suspended load.

ratchet jack

The Stockwinde for cables seems to be an exotic exception.
Mostly, Stockwinden are mechanical jacks with a ratchet & pawl mechanism.

While we're on the subject, a Zughub is a very similar device called a "ratchet winch" and is used for pulling things together rather than levering them apart.

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks -- that's also a logical meaning for the term, but in this case, the Stockwinde is clearly a hoisting device and some sort of winch (the text even has 'Stockwinde mit Seile'). As the client did not respond to a request for an explanation (via the agency), I ultimately decided on 'reversible winch'."
