I was reading a paper and it told me that mas can be used as the english equivalent 'but". Could someone give me an example where mas is used as but for I can understand this a little bit better. Thanks

Pero and mas are interchangeable as regards meaning, but \"mas\" is rather old-fashioned and formal (sorry I keep adding these, I\'m kind of thinking aloud!)
