Spanish term

Combustóleo, tubo pitot, quimiluminiscencia, paramagnéticos, torino

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering
Since these are all very specific technical terms (I'm sure they can only have one meaning), I decided to just list them together. The subject matter is environmental control in the petroleum industry (Mexico). Here they are again:

combustóleo
tubo pitot
quimiluminiscencia
paramagnéticos
torino

Thank you for any help you can offer. I have no access to my technical dictionaries (office closed for Christmas) and Eurodicautom is down!

From Termium:
English:Magnetism
paramagnetic s CORRECT

Paramagnetic] materials (...) are but slightly more magnetic than a vacuum, and are therefore attracted weakly by the poles of an electromagnet (...) s

Pitot tube s CORRECT
DEF - A device for observing the velocity head of flowing water, consisting essentially of a small open-ended tube pointed upstream in flowing water, and connected with a vertical tube by which the rise of water in the tube above the water surface may be observed. It may be constructed with an upstream and a downstream orifice and two water columns, the difference of water levels being an index of the velocity head. s
OBS - ... a small, L-shaped tube, which, when inserted vertically into a flowing fluid with its open end facing upstream, measures the total pressure of the fluid and hence, indirectly, the velocity of its flow. s

Hello, Russell,

As one of the ProZ Moderators, I'm taking the liberty of transferring your query to the "Pro" side of KudoZ, in the hope that you may get some answers for the *torino* part of your question there. And, in any case, your query definitely isn't the sort that "Easy" KudoZ questions were set up to help with.

May I suggest that you also repost your query: my transferring it to the Pro side will mean that it will be listed along with other Pro queries, but a new query from *you* is needed for written messages to be sent out to translators signed up to answer Pro questions. These are not necessarily the same people as those signed up to answer the "Easy" category--a lot of translators don't want to be bothered with all the clutter of silly questions that finds its way into the Easy side of KudoZ (folks asking how to say "I love you" in some language, kids wanting their homework done for them, etc.)

Best regards,

Fuel oil

Combustóleo = Fuel Oil. Tubo Pitot = Pitot Tube(normaly used to measure air velocity). Quimioluminiscencia = Chemiluminescence. Paramagnético = Paramagnetic. Torina (fem.)= Thoria. Torita = Hydrated Thorium Silicate. Sorry, did not find torino (unless it is the italian city). Ref. Diccionario Politécnico de F.Beigbeder, Simon & Schuster and own experience. Hope it helps.
