Swedish term
tåla ögats slitage
Swedish to English
Marketing
Furniture / Household Appliances
The context is about design of rooms etc. that need to
"tåla ögats slitage". I was thinking along the lines of "easy on the eye" in the sense of something you could look at time and time again without tiring of it, i.e. a design that will still look good in the longer term, but would be grateful if someone could confirm I'm on the right track (or that I'm totally wrong or missing a much better alternative). Thanks.

"Det skall tåla ögats slitage" is the tile of an Undergraduate thesis (Master Thesis in Business Administration (Magisteruppsats från Ekonomprogrammet) from Linköping University. The title of that theis was "officially" translated as follows:
Title:
Immateriella värden & design -eller ”Det skall tåla ögats slitage”
Immaterial value & design -or ”It must withstand the wear and tear of the eye”
Authors Johan Dyrendahl & Sophia Karlsson

the need for ergonomics and flexibility is evident. A piece of furniture must stand the wear and tear of the eye as well as by use. ...

: Pity the authors of the thesis didn't consult a native speaker. One can, of course, invent new metaphors, but this one sounds too unidiomatic to me.

I am simply pointing out to the asker what the context of the Swedish expression is, how can you disagree with that?

: Sounds very poetic, but does time have eyes?

What do we know of time? Or the unidiomatic for that matter?
