Hello, I'm working on an Excel 2003 file with Studio 2009 on Windows 7 but when I try and save file to target I get the above message, followed by a sentence in Italian item saying more or less: reference to an item not set on an item instance. I had tried to save the file to target immediately after starting translation and it had worked then. so I dont know why now it doesnt now. Thanks in advance Sara | | | Adam Łobatiuk Poland Local time: 22:41 Member (2009) English to Polish + ... Worksheet name? | Nov 20, 2010 |
I haven't had this problem in Studio, but in Tag Editor. The other message is similar (and apparently related to Office, not SDL Trados products directly), so the cause and solution could be similar as well. Check if you translated (changed) the name(s) of the worksheet(s) in the XLS file - those tabs at the bottom in a workbook. If so, try reverting them to source. In TTX files, they are visible between < name > tags, but it will be different in Studio. Also, make sure the XLS file... See more I haven't had this problem in Studio, but in Tag Editor. Hope that helps. ▲ Collapse | | | Emma Goldsmith Spain Local time: 22:41 Member (2004) Spanish to English
If you successfully saved the file immediately after starting the translation and now it won't save, then you can be almost 100% certain that you have deleted or added a tag. Run verify (F8) and go back and correct the errors that are reported. Well done for carrying out the initial check on saving the file, because that has ruled out many other possible issues. It is wise to do this routinely on any big file. | | | Sara Carboni Local time: 22:41 French to Italian + ... TOPIC STARTER No tag error | Nov 21, 2010 |
Thanks Adam and Emma. I ran F8 but no error was reported. As for changing the Excel filename, I saved the Excel file with another name before starting translation and, as explained, immediately after starting translation the file could be target converted correctly. I think it could be possibile that I had the original Excel file open when using Studio and I agree it could well be due to a problem with Office, but have no clue what. Also, I ... I think it could be possibile that I had the original Excel file open when using Studio and I agree it could well be due to a problem with Office, but have no clue what. Also, I had again the same problem as reported in this other post http://www.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/185798-no_fuzzy_matches_in_translation_results.html#1628593 so I think there must be something wrong with the file itself or with how I proceed. At the end of the day, I opted for a traditional translation without Studio due to time constraints, but I would like to understand what did not work....
