Bio

I have worked as an English professor and translator in Italy for the last ten years. I enjoy the ‘human factor’ in teaching and the quiet and independence of translation work. I love linguistics and always teach my students the history behind grammatical structures, the reason why the English language functions in certain ways, as well as the history of words, their etymology. I like to be able to translate from Italian or German into English, because it is always an intellectual challenge for someone with a strong interest in linguistics as I am. Having spent part of my younger years in Italy, and coming from a mixed-background (Italian-British) family, I have also learned Italian very well and can translate into Italian from English or German. The latter has been my passion in the last ten years. I have spent extensive periods of time studying in German and Austrian universities to perfect my knowledge of a language that does pose challenges to the non- native speaker. My interest in German comes from my classical music studies. I graduated in Musicology and focused my study in particular on German and Austrian schools between 1850 and 1945.
