Source text - French L’Alentejo se résume généralement à des paysages magnifiques dont l’espace et la météo évoquent plus le Nevada que l’Europe. Je suis de retour à Evora, ville centrale de cette région portugaise, une bourgade de 40 000 habitants, patrimoine de l’Unesco. Ici, comme dans le plus petit village de la région, « la vie se déroule à un autre rythme, un rythme complètement différent de Lisbonne », m’explique Renata Marques, ma cousine. Elle est la jeune chef de cabinet au Governo Civil, l’organe de représentation du gouvernement central dans chaque district du pays. Un rythme de vie différent mais une qualité de vie qui peut s’avérer exceptionnelle, c’est cela qui l’a poussée à s’installer ici.
« C’est Evora », sourit Renata Marques. Un pays de contradictions. En sillonnant l’Alentejo central, on peut observer à maints endroits ce même contraste, cette impression de bout du monde, où pourtant naissent des initiatives dynamiques qui feraient pâlir d’envie plus d’une ville du Nord de l’Europe. A l’Ajalentejo, l’association des jeunes d’Alentejo qui a vu le jour en 2007, on diffuse et coordonne toutes les initiatives que veulent porter les jeunes « alentejana » afin de promouvoir leur région (création d’un site Web et d’un webzine, diffusion d’événements culturels et éducatifs…)
Translation - Italian L'Alentejo è conosciuta generalmente per i suoi paesaggi magnifici e il suo clima, più simili al Nevada che all'Europa. Eccomi di ritorno ad Evora, la città principale di questa regione portoghese, una borgata di 40 mila abitanti, patrimonio dell'Unesco. Qui, come nel più piccolo paesello della regione, «la vita segue un altro ritmo, un ritmo conpletamente differente da quello di Lisbona», mi spiega Renata Marques, che è mia cugina, oltre che la giovane Capo gabinetto del Governo Civil, l'organo di rappresentanza del governo centrale in ogni distretto del paese. Un ritmo di vita differente, ma una qualità di vita che può rivelarsi eccezionale: ecco il motivo che l'ha spinta a trasferirsi qui.
«Questa è Evora», dice sorridendo Renata Marques. Un paese pieno di contraddizioni. Percorrendo in lungo e in largo l'Alentejo centrale, in molti luoghi si può ritrovare lo stesso contrasto, questa impressione di essere in capo al mondo e allo stesso tempo in un posto in cui prendono vita iniziative tanto dinamiche da far morire d'invidia più di una città del Nord Europa. All'Ajalentejo, l'associazione dei giovani dell'Alentejo creata nel 2007, si diffondono e coordinano tutte le iniziative che i giovani del luogo vogliono portare avanti per promuovere la loro regione (creazione di un sito web e di un magazine on-line, diffusione di avvenimenti culturali ed educativi...).
