Professional practices Alison Kirkland endorses's Professional Guidelines (v1.1).
I graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK, in March 2007, with a BA/Hons (First) in German with English and American Literature. During my 4 year course of study I spent a year in Jena, Germany, studying at the Friedrich Schiller Universitaet, Jena. Since graduating I have handled several commissions as a freelance German-English translator, including course descriptions for Bachelor qualifications offered by the Hochschule fuer Bildende Kuenste, Hamburg and work related to the Daimler-Chrysler Art Collection and to the Kassell documenta exhibition. I have also handled work for publishers, including Birkhaeuser and Seemann Henschel. The Birkhaeuser work dealt with highly technical details of construction - materials, methods construction types - etc, while other book and museum-related work was about abstract philosophy and critical theory, 20th century history and historical artefacts. I have also translated a children's book by Rosemarie Breuer!

I work from home, and am generally reachable 7 days a week.
