As reported last week, a new rates system is being designed. Work this week continued to concentrate in this area.
Translators will be able to:
set their rates by service, language pair and field
enter minimum rates, surcharges and discounts
create separate rate lists to target those registered on ProZ.com as translation companies or end clients
specify rates in units such as per word, character, line, page
specify rates according to either source or target
A public version of this rates system is expected to be ready in the next few weeks. I'd like to thank the members who have been taking the time to work with Colin in testing this system out and providing feedback so far. Thanks also go to those who have responded to last week's call for collaboration and provided information and links for resources, groups and individuals active in the support of the livelihood of professional translators.
In addition, changes are being made to the Connect so that it conforms with the recent improvements to the handling of budget information.
