A fantastic happening! Aug 8, 2007

Dear ProZians,

Attending a Powwow is always a wonderful experience.
Proposing a Powwow is sort of opening a new door.
Organizing a Powwow does not take much time, and when the event is running you feel "this was really worth doing". No matter if it is small or big.
Holding a Powwow on Translator's Day, at the same time as other similar events are being held worldwide, is one-of-a-time.

It is really interesting... Aug 8, 2007

I completely agree with Fabio. I had the opportunity of organising one powwow in Santa Fe, Argentina, and it was fantastic. It is a great experience and, of course, I will attend to the one that will be held in Santa Fe.
Have a nice day!
Fernando

Yes, I have proposed one Aug 8, 2007

I attended one powwow held in Santa Fe. It was an amazing experience since we can talk about our life as translators in an informal way. There I met others who were in the same situation than mine. Since our profession sometimes turns us into a king of hermit beings, powwows are a chance to socialize and meet people. When Romina offered me the opportunity to organize the next powwow, I really wanted to face the challenge!

Yes, but... Aug 8, 2007

They're all being held at least 5,000 miles from here. And yes, I have attended a few powwows, all at least 5,000 miles from here.

The good thing is that we have our local association, and whether Proz or not, we do get together on a regular basis.

Yes & I want to propose one Aug 8, 2007

I am going to move to a big house by the end of August-beginning of September. Once I have my new house in order and tidy, and finish buying the furniture I need, I would love to propose the meeting there. Let's see if I have time to do so!

Hi Cristina,
You may proceed to propose the Powwow in your city all the same. The details (i.e. "where") may be agreed upon later. I swear, it's very easy to organize it!

Celebrating Translator's Day with a powwow Aug 8, 2007

I have never attented a powwow but I wish I could.
It would be the best way to celebrate Translator's day!

You've missed an option Aug 8, 2007

Yes, I've heard about, but I'm not going to do anything about it.
That would be my choice.

I guess Henry's moved to Siberia since the last time I talked to him. There are proposals for powwows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Dallas for those of us in the western USA.

I have proposed one in Costa Rica Aug 9, 2007

As soon as I realized about this idea, I proposed one in San Jose, Costa Rica.
I'm really busy, but I'll do my best so that translators can meet on Sept. 29th.

I'll appreciate your help to have an amazing experience.

Thanks:):)

True enough Aug 9, 2007

You're right, Patricia, those are closer. But I've opted instead to attend my 50th high school reunion in LA. After all, that's 50 years. Can't bring 'em back.

Maybe we can do one here on the border sometime. You won't find me in Siberia.

Nice thing is, every time I go to Santiago they have one. Every time I go, I just let them know and they do it.

Now that's real hospitality!

Powwows - (VGI) - Very Good Idea Sep 30, 2007

I really think it's a very good idea. I wish it took more than a day.
Congratulations to the one or ones who make this important international event come true.

Yesterday, I went, for the first time, to a powwow which took place in Uruguay. We shared a good time and everything went ok thanks to our Event Organizer, Fabio Descalzi. In my opinion, the place chosen for the event was the right one.

I was happy to know personally, part of the memebers of this community

I was happy to know personally, part of the memebers of this community who you "see" through the net, and of course all the other ones.

Many Thanks,
