A dictionary on one of the world’s oldest spoken languages is in the pipeline in the Land of the Hornbill. After publishing and launching the book, ‘A Guide to the Meirek Language, Bahasa Malaysia Translation’ last year, the Miri Jatti Meirek Association is eyeing such a dictionary.
For a start, association secretary Ujut Abdul Rahman said, a Meirek Language Seminar would be held next year to act as a forum to gather feedback and suggestions for the proposed dictionary.
“We want to gather all relevant data first so that we have sufficient material to publish our own dictionary,” he said.
The time frame for the publication of the dictionary has not been decided.  This will  depend on the cost and materials collected.
