A symposium to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the European Society for Translation Studies

Keynote speakers: Michaela Wolf, Dilek Dizdar

Panelists: Mary Snell-Hornby, Yves Gambier, Daniel Gile

The European Society for Translation Studies was conceived during the international conference Translation Studies – an Interdiscipline, held at the University of Vienna in September 1992.

The celebratory symposium Same Place, Different Times commemorates that founding moment, while at the same time considering opportunities and challenges for the future. Over the past twenty years, Translation Studies programs and networks have mushroomed all over the world, even if the institutional foothold of the interdiscipline in university settings has often remained precarious.
