German term or phrase: gepflegten und aufwendigen Mahlzeiten
"Zu ihren Aufgaben gehörten, unter Anleitung, Ordnung und Sauberkeit und Sauberkeit in Küche und Econnement inkl. abwaschen, rüsten und kalte Küche für die ***gepflegten und aufwendigen Mahlzeiten*** der Residenzgäste."

Here's another urgent query from this utterly appalling Swiss German sentence - I'm not a violent person, but right now I could do the author of this text, and especially this sentence, grevious bodily harm! Anyway, what on earth does "gepflegt" mean when applied to meals? I suppose aufwendig could be sumptuous or lavish or something. Any help with this phrase - or even the entire wretched sentence - would be very welcome. I need it urgently too - sorry for the rush!

or maybe Norbert\'s \"sophisticated\" rather than \"elaborate\"

It was a bit of a toss-up between John and Norbert here. John just gets the nod for helping me with the sentence as well, and getting the "agrees". I might use "sophisticated" though. So thanks John, commiserations Norbert and thanks to the others who had a go.

I kind of switched the adjectives around (they more or less mean the same thing anyway).

gepflegten und aufwendigen Mahlzeiten (URGENT!)
deutsche Erklärung

Explanation:
Hi Rowan,

Here comes a quick German explanation to the terms in question:

I guess this is a bit snooty (hochnasig), but that's what
you'd get in a restaurant like this one seems to be!
