filing notices of new hires and terminated employees/workers with Social Security Explanation: The IMSS is every employer's headache in Mexico. Notice has to be filed with the IMSS of: a) newly hired employees or workers b) employees or workers who have been terminated, regardless of the cause or circumstances c) changes in salary or wages The IMSS has to be notified of any of those three events. If notice is not filed and happens to be audited by the IMSS, it can have a serious contingency. Ask anyone here in Mexico what an audit by the IMSS is like and they will tell you it is absolute murder. Also note that the original working in Spanish gives no mention of filing notices of any kind with the IMSS, but that is really what has to be done. Hope this helps. 17 years experience translating for Mexico City based accounting firms, banks, financial entities, etc. Resident of Mexico for 40 years. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 35 mins (2006-02-22 02:00:01 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Oops. In my rush to get this out, the "if" subordinate clause of the second sentence after c) should read like this: "If notice is not filed and the company happens to be audited by the IMSS," Sorry about that.
