zero calibrator

The analytical sensitivity or lowest detectable concentration that is distinguishable from zero for the Triage BNP Test was determined by testing a zero calibrator 20 times each using 3 lots of reagents and 5 Triage Meters on 5 days.

Yes, of course you're right, it's the 'neutral' or control' reaganet that is specifically guaranteed not to contain any of the substance to be detected.

The sentence goes on to say "...using 3 lots of reagents...", meaning they didn't even trust one batch to be OK, so they played safe and used 3 different batches.
