German term
Vorleitschaufel
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Energy / Power Generation
gas turbines
The subject matter is a compressor of a gas turbine, and the only translation I can find is "initial guide blade" or "initial guide vane". Although "Vorleitrad" is understood to be "inlet guide vane", I wonder if "Vorleitschaufel" could be the same thing, or could the latter be the first stage stator blading, although if this were to be the case I would have thought it would have been defined differently.

Note from asker:
Uta Many thanks. The subject matter is a stationary gas turbine. Since sending out my question I have had a chance to look at a drawing and I am sure this has to be inlet guide vane. If it were to be the first stage stator blading I think it would have been defined differently. |

: I had a similar question with Leitstufe back in June and "guide stage" was the consensus then. The refs in the answer were quite useful too. See http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1415710
