I'm guessing and I'd need to see more of the context, because I'm not sure what "steep bluffs" really are. I understand hikers will see some kind of failures -or accidents or some kind of slopes- downhill. In that case, "Fallas" is the term for translating "bluffs", and "pendientes" for "steep"
