mkj¥'s 指金 certainly rings a bell, and I¥'m familiar with the L-shaped ones shown in the URL provided.
Where I¥'m not so certain is in the 三角定規 connection. I know that they¥'re used in draughting and reading drawings in the construction office (製図), but out on the site?
Alas, my sister is no longer married to a carpenter.
