German term

munter wie ein Sturmangriff

German to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings newspaper article
This is from an article about waste disposal and recycling in Slovenia. I'm not sure quite how to interpret this simile - whether it's meant positively or negatively. Is the author just not a morning person??

"Graben – Kurve – Hang.

Discussion

seehand Aug 6, 2009:
oder, um auch ein militärisches Bild beizubehalten, "as vigorous and determined as a cavalry charge", der deutsche Ausdruck ist ja auch ein Bild, das der Autor entworfen hat"
seehand Aug 6, 2009:
"as full of energy as a boiling kettle and ready to attack the day"
vielleicht so?
polyglot45 Aug 6, 2009:
how about... bright eyed and busy tailed ? Assuming it IS positive which remains to be demonstrated

bursting with energy

not necessarily sticking with the imae, but conveying the meaning which I think, is largely positive

full of beans

I reckon it's positive and means sth. like
"putzmunter" or "fit wie ein Turnschuh",
i.e. full of beans, as fit as a fiddle, a bundle of energy...

charging ahead like the light brigade

this is a very free rendition of "Sturmangriff" which I associate with a full charge in battle.
