Change log

Jan 8, 2010 17:20: Rob Grayson changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (3): philgoddard, Julie Barber, Yolanda Broad

Non-PRO (3): Chris Hall, writeaway, Rob Grayson

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

philgoddard Jan 8, 2010:
I'd never come across this before. Of course it's easy enough to Google it rather than asking a question on here, but it's still a PRO question in my opinion.

semi-authentic certificate

The Registrar of Civil Status is authorized by its incorporating legislation to issue parts of the register of civil status for certificates made in its territory, Quebec. However, the Registrar can also issue semi-authentic certificates for certificates made outside its territory but for which a copy has been deposited in its records. In this case, the question was whether the document was authentic or not.

No problem, Marco. I don't know if your doubts are with "semi-authentique" or with "acte" - if it's with "acte", it's commonly translated as certificate, as in acte de naissance (birth certificate), acte de marriage (marriage certificate), etc.
Note from asker:
Thank you Enza: it looks right according to your reference. I will wait the statutory 24 hours before closing the question
Enza: the problem was with semi-authentique. I had nod come across it before. Thank you again.

agree writeaway : oeuf corse. an acte de naissance is a birth certificate. so it has to be certificate, not document.
