German term

Leuchtengrafiken

German to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks car lights
I am translating a confidential text about a new car model. The text talks about the redesigned "Leuchtengrafiken". This seems to be a standard phrase in the automotive industry but I can't find an EN equivalent.

Bernd Runge Oct 10, 2011:
Leuchtengrafik Scheint hier eher die sichtbare Form zu sein, die von den LEDs gebildet wird - zum Beispiel ein Dreieck beim Rolls Royce Ghost.

Beim Audi fällt die Frontpartie deswegen auch stark auf - nicht so sehr wegen den Leuchten im Allgemeinen, sondern durch ihre Anordnung (distinctive LED pattern).

You forgot to provide the context, ie the sentence containing the word.

tail light designs {concepts} or "exterior lighting concepts"

Looking through the German usage of this term, I find it is mostly about the tail lights. Sometimes it also refers to the daytime running lights, like on the new Audis.

I have not really seen an English term for this. Maybe "exterior lighting concepts" to cover all your bases.

YOU might be the person who comes up with the definitive English term. Good luck.

Light design

After looking at the pictures under 'Leuchtengrafik' this is what I'd call it, although it certainly isn't a literal translation of the actual German words.

LED DRL

This could be the technical term? This (DRL) is an abbreviation for Daytime Running Lamp.

I wonder whether you can just say LED tail lights; they don't seem to have a specific name for it? The picture is the same as in the German version
