English term

pink slip

English to Spanish Other Education / Pedagogy Rules and policies
In a letter to parents, a teacher describes the rules and policies that will apply to her students.
These are young kids, Kindergartners or first graders.
Towards the end, the teacher mentions that if the child needs to be frequently reminded to follow the rules, he/she will take time out to think, and a pink slip may apply.

As far as I can see, a pink slip is a warning an adult may receive before getting laid off from a job, but it´s hard to believe that a young kid might get expelled from school for not following the rules.
What could the term mean in this context?

Discussion

Susie Rawson (asker) Sep 5, 2015:
Having read everybody´s input, and with no chance of asking the teacher or the school, I arrived to the conclusion that the pink slip is a simple note to the parents, and the choice of words is simply allegorical. Thank you all.
MollyRose Aug 31, 2015:
maybe a note to the parents on a pink slip of paper? Again, I would ask the teacher if possible (unless it's actually on their website as Taña suggested).
Tamara Trías Aug 31, 2015:
I checked online and it seems to be something related to the different levels of behavior as they said. Check this website: http://www.wirrabirra.wa.edu.au/behaviour.html
Taña Dalglish Aug 31, 2015:
@ Susie In all likelihood, each school/district has their own behavioural codes. I can only assume you have checked the web for the school in question? As per my ref., some schools may refer to the slip as a "think sheet", which perhaps is an option? Hmm? Regards.
Susie Rawson (asker) Aug 31, 2015:
They actually do have colors for different levels of behavior, but pink happens to be the color for outstanding behavior, and the pink slip is something you get for the worst behavior, which falls under red color. So go figure...
MollyRose Aug 31, 2015:
ask the teacher It could mean something different to different people. Maybe they have a color code for behavior. For example, green is ready to learn, blue is for better than average, yellow is warning, pink is call parents, red is parents and principal.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Gracias Juan. Claramente la elección de palabras (pink slip) era simplemente alegórica. Llegué a esa conclusión después de leer las opiniones de todos."

regañina

Con un niño pequeño no utilizaríamos una amonestación. Una regañina es lo que lo que se da a los niños pequeños cuando no se portan correctamente.

A la postre, con todas las aportaciones ya realizadas, yo me limitaría a una traducción más o menos literal, como las que indico.

If a student chooses to break a rule:
· First Time (YELLOW) = A verbal reminder as to how to best follow the classroom rules
· Second Time (ORANGE) = Student receives a time out

· Third Time(pink) = Student receives a time out in another classroom. Student’s **think sheet** is sent home to let you know about your child’s behavior. Please sign the note and have your child return it to school the next day.

· Fourth Time= Student sent to office with office referral

· Breaking the SEVERE CLAUSE will automatically receive an office referral

If your child receives a ***think sheet or pink slip*** please plan for consequences at home. Field trips and special activities in and out of class are a privilege for students who demonstrate that they can consistently follow rules. If a child demonstrates that they are not able to follow school and class rules then they will not be able to participate in any special activities that our class takes part in.
