I think that the "R" stands for "Rendicontazione" (dei progetti di ricerca) and not for "Ricerca".

agree philgoddard : Your references are from the wrong organization - this is not about the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli. But Judy's reference shows that the Fondazione Pascale has two departments with the initials SCAR, and I agree this one is the more likely.
