Same text as the previous question posted, on artefacts to do with rain in different cultures.

minéraux qui, par leur aspect, évoquent la pluie ou les phénomènes météorologiques qui y sont liés : quartz translucide « génie de l’arc en ciel », obsidienne, concrétions de magnésie de Nouvelle Calédonie…

I guess this is something like "rainbow spirit" quartz crystal, but I haven't found anything to corroborate that. This could be posted as two different terms, but I think the whole phrase refers to one object which may be called something completely different in English. Thank you in advance for any ideas.

Susan Nicholls (asker) Jun 7, 2010:
Thank you for your input. In the end I used Chris's suggestion but flagged the problem, I may get more details back from the client.
Cleartrans Jun 3, 2010:
Rainbow quartz has tiny internal fractures which refract light into the colours of a rainbow.
Julie Barber Jun 3, 2010:
From looking around I think that the name is "Rainbow quartz" and that the spirit/genie is just what some cultures may believe it captures or represents - it's not the actual name as such so, I think that your own suggestion is fine.
