Hungarian term

Csaba Laszlo or Laszlo Csaba

Hungarian to English Other Names (personal, company)
Scottish football club Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) have a new Hungarian manager. British websites say his name is Csaba Laszlo. I was convonced that "Laszlo" is the Christian name and "Csaba" the surname.

Have even started a thread on a BBC soccer forum wanting to put the record straight:

Can our Hungarian friends confirm this is correct or am I to eat my words?

...that both are given (Christian/first) names but they are often also family/last names.

To confirm, go to a Hungarian website, you will see Laszlo Csaba. In English, however, it is inverted, the given name preceding the family name, thus you will often see Csaba Laszlo. The confusion originates from the fact that both (cont. below)

Hi Petrol. Sorry, did not know you didn't speak Hungarian. See my answer below. László is his family name, Csaba is his first (Christian) name.

Which is which? Apologies. I may have expressed myself awkwardly. I just would love to find out which is the Christan name and which is the family name. Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian, so I am unable to fully appreciate the links in Hungarian.

agree Michael Golden : If you google "csaba", "lászló", "coach", "hearts", virtually every English-language source refers to him as "Csaba László". If you google "Csaba", "László", "edző"(i.e. Hungarian for "coach), "hearts", virtually every Hungarian source lists him as "L.C."
