Italian term

personalità meccanica

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Motorbikes
From an article on a famous make of motorbike:
È da li che con tutta la testardaggine possibile ho iniziato a proporre numerose modifiche alle moto di serie che magari qualche anno fa non avevano tutta questa personalità od identità estetica ma avevano una grande personalità meccanica.
I am stuck for an elegant term in English, perhaps 'presence' would fit for personalita? Should I translate meccanica literally? I am not sure if it sounds too stilted.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks

strong/powerful mechanism

You could say sth like "had such powerful mechanism". / "Despite having such powerful mechanism". Grammar depending on how you start the sentence, of course.

I thought of "presence" and also "character" at first but I can't think of a good combination of either with an equivalent for "meccanica". As for "meccanica" itself I think you can change it into a noun like mechanism, it gives you more options to play with the word.

Good luck.

mechanical personality

I owuld go for this. Personality gives the idea of "strong" which fits well on motorbikes!
Example sentence:

but they had a strong/great mechanical personality
