Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Description of a story for a ballet
I am not sure what this term is referring to in the context, i.e. the place or a modern book. I can see that it is capitalised but am still unsure.


“Don Quixotte, cavaliere errante che pensa di essere antico, è l’eroe del Moderno per eccellenza…” .

I have translated this as:

“Don Quixotte, the knight-errant who believes he is old, is the ultimate hero ??? …” .

@ Susanna Yes thank you. A case of late night confusion there. I kept thinking it might be a place due to the capital letter, and then I confused it with Modena. Funny how everything becomes clearer after a night's sleep.!!

Modern Age

I think that Modern here is a short form that stands for "Modern Age", as the novel by M. de Cervantes is worldwide recognized as a masterpiece of the Modern age

I think "moderno" here is referring to that which is modern in nature, rather than chronologically: in other words, the Modern or Modernity.

This is actually a quotation from Claudio Magris:
