Discussion

I also saw "gonna a canna di fucile", but this is "canne", so I'm not certain. Could it be referring to a "gonna in tessuto cannettato"?

skirt with uneven hem

This is a bit of a longshot hence the very low condifence. I'm pretty sure there's a better English way of saying this but can't for the life of me think what it is at the moment!

also known as WAVY skirts!

... gli chemisier si riempiono di tasche micro e macro, le gonne scendono con un movimento a canne d'organo smorzate in piccole balze piatte, ...

I was thinking along the lines of those skirts with visible stitching and generally (though not necessarilty) uneven hems (ie. one section of the skirt is longer than the other) - unfortunately they go by various names, depending on which shop/designer they came from!!

Nothing wrong with panel skirt - it's certainly better than my inelegant suggestion!!

if "canne" is short for "canne d'organo" then it probably refers to the fact that the skirt is rather "flouncy" (for want of a better word)...

Peer comment(s):

agree Linda 969 : not sure the hem is necessarily uneven - how about "paneled skirt" http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=200572&C...

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, Ivana. I think it's a full panelled skirt that, because of the panels, falls in "tubes". "

tube skirt

The famous 'tube skirt' from the eighties is back?
Tube tops and skirts were very big long ago and according to hits on Google are back in the picture. These are usually tight fitting and made of stretch material such as lycra or laytex.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Ivana UK : wouldn't this be "gonna a tubo"?

Unfortunately, I can't find a pic....Also came to mind 'straight skirt' simply, but Katherine's comment seems to be convincing.Any other ideas?
agree Katherine Zei : Definitely a tube skirt. I saw "gonna a canne" at Stefanel (I think...) a while back, and it was a tube skirt. They obviously can't call it "a canna", and "tubo" in Naples is almost a swear word (as in "me ne frego un tubo", i.e. synonym for penis).
