raise the vessel on chocks
Usually, boats are lifted with the crane and the keel placed on chocks to raise to from the ground so work can be done on her bottom. It is prevented from toppling over (whn the crane is removed) by hull shores or simply shores.
Example sentence:
The starboard shore's got 'er, said he, grinning as he knocked away the last port shore... Aaaargh!
