à titre informatif - a/purely for informational purposes - b/on a purely informational basis. I translated this expression as a/ and b/. Is it correct this way? Is it c/for information? Is there anything wrong with using the word purely? Another translator commented -Don't add too much to the source text and intent. Stick to the French. To translate means not to betray the source text. Nothing in the French mentions the PURELY thing.

My project is #1 below but I also included an excerpt from a web article below. I think using the word purely flows more elegantly in english but I am not certain about the true meaning of the source expression.

1) A company is presenting relevant exhibits in an annex à titre informatif

If I say - ON A PURELY INFORMATIONAL BASIS - or even- for informative purposes - THE MEANING IS CLEAR

Cette découverte ne déclenchera donc aucune hostilité particulière à l'inverse de celle qui avait poussé il y a un mois la société Club Internet, du groupe Lagardère, à saisir le juge des référés pour empêcher la divulgation de toute information sur le sujet.

agree  cheungmo: "À titre" means "under the heading of..." or "entitled" (closer in meaning). I can give someone information meant to be taken as advice "à titre de conseil" for example. I'd go with "informational" however but that just me being picky.

By the way, "annexe" is probably best translated by "appendix".
