Project Management

Project Portfolio Handling
This function will plan, co-ordinate and control the execution of ICT project within the organization.

The planning part will be carried out at a regular interval or when a major deviation in individual project needs it. The output will be:

· Multi project Planning – all the projects including time and resources within.
· Resource Plan – Long term forecast of resources needed to execute all project

This will be a higher level plan which treats project as a single task. The time and resource forecasts are based on profiles for typical projects within the organization (MIS) and not in detailed plan.

The portfolio tracking and control is a continuous process that will be carried out to ensure the minimal deviation in the total project portfolio.

Project manager who manages single project in the organization will need to report status of the project to the Program Manager whom is responsible for the total project portfolio in the organization.

If necessary, an audit will be carried out on individual single project to determine the true status of the project.

Assignment Handling

This function will be to response and monitor assignments.

Once the steering committee decided to embark on a project; an assignment specification need to be detailed by the project sponsor. Once there is a requirement on a project, the project manager will conduct a preliminary study for the project. This action is to establish the project scope, work approach, duration, effort required and other business aspect of the project. These activities will result appointing a project manager for the project.


Staffing and Competence Development

This function will be responsible to ensure the organization with competent and motivated person who runs the project. Typical responsibility is to advice in hiring, evaluating and coaching the project manager.

To ensure the person who is going to run a project will be equip at least with some basic knowledge of project management through project management training. The basic will be the 9 knowledge Area by Project Management institute.
