A Product specification sheet, under the "Microbiological specifications" heading, the abbreviation "Red."
Hello,
I am translating a Product specification document of a cellulase enzyme and under Microbiological Specifications there is a list, as follows:
Total viable count 0-50000 CFU/ml
Anaerobic bacteria, Sulfite 0-30 CFU/ml
Red.
Total coliforms 0-30 CFU/ml
E. coli NEG/25 ml
(Etc...)
I can't figure out the meaning of the abbreviation "Red." (It looks like an abbreviation...)

I am not very sure, but I have the feeling red refers either to the culture medium used to grow coliforms (rojo neutro) or to the actual colour of the gram negative bacteria colonies like coliforms and E.coli. In this case what you would have is a list like Rojo: coliforms, E.coli, etc

Gracias por preguntar. Al final me he inclinado por Reducción de sulfito.
Les quiero agradecer a todos; Jorge mencionó la palabra "Reducción" también... pero realmente no había nada que indicara que se trataba de una reducción... a menos que seas un especialista en el tema, estaba complicado!

I really don't know... there is a full stop after "Red", maybe it is a mistake. I thought it was an abbreviation, but there was no need to abbreviate there.
I will do some Internet research taking into account what you are saying and will get back to you later!
