Could you please help me with the word "Probe" in this case? Can't figure it out what it means.
Die Begriffe "Lösungsmenge" and "Variablengrundbereich" sowie Möglichkeit der Probe kennen und anwenden
I have translated it as
Understanding and applying the „solution set“ and „variable basic range“ as well as
the possibities of samples.
But it still sounds strange.
Could you please help me with the word "Probe" in this case? Can't figure it out what it means.

And I'm not sure about basic variable range.

Seems to be substitution of a trial value to see if the equation balances.

Thanks Eric. That (or "test") seems most natural to me in English. We certainly don't use any variants of "probe".

: Yes, I don't think "Probe" means "substitution method" (even though that's one particular method of checking - there are other methods). It simply means "checks".. as you suggested.
