Dutch term

sulcuslens

Dutch to English Medical Medical: Health Care Vision care, Eye care, Opticians
I know what the sulcus is, but I don't know how the sulcus pertains to a type of eyewear (contact lenses, glasses etc).

Anyone know the specific term for this type of eyewear?

There is no context other than the fact that it is in a product listing of a company that supplies eye care solutions.
Proposed translations (English)

Please just Google it.
Bryan Crumpler (asker) May 18, 2012:
vouwbaar could the "vouwbaar" perhaps not mean foldable, and mean "flexible" rather, as in "soft"? If this is something that is implanted in the eye I can't see how "foldable" fits either, but I can see "soft" if they are made from some type of flexible polymer.
Bryan Crumpler (asker) May 18, 2012:
More context The sulcuslens is "foldable", so they're obviously not contact lenses.

The product listing states:

"Vouwbare sulcuslens"

sulcus lens

'Sulcus' is another word for 'ciliary body'. The term 'sulcus lens' is also used in English as far as I know.

See the above reference in Dutch. The lens is rolled and implanted.

'The use of a flexible IOL enables the lens to be rolled for insertion into the capsule through a very small incision, thus avoiding the need for stitches, and this procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes in the hands of an experienced ophthalmologist.'

I've just read your discussion entry. They're surgically implanted lenses, and vouwbar is "foldable" - try Googling foldable + "sulcus lens".

ciliary sulcus

It is an IOL = intraocular lens, it is placed in the ciliary sulcus, an anatomical feature of the eye

Haptieken

SULCUS GEPLAATSTE LENS:
