Unfortunately, this is an answer to a questionnaire, so context is difficult to provide.
The question is asking about treatment regimens, and has given the option of "Other", where some of the other treatment regimens involve interferon, ribavirin, telapravir, etc.

I agree with Nathan that the 庇 is probably short for 庇護 - protection. Therefore 肝臓庇護 - liver protection. As ribavirin and telapravir are antivirals which are used in the treatment of Hepatitis C, and interferon is also a standard therapy for Hep C, which obviously damages the liver, it certainly fits in this context.

I should probably have added 'drug' at the end. Hepato-protective drug.

liver protection drug
Not my field of specialty, but perhaps this is short for 肝臓庇護剤 (http://www.star-line.co.jp/a2/1interdrus/ius_hy_livercare.ht... which seems to be more commonly referred to as 肝庇護剤 (http://www.musashino-hep.com/cb_liver_cure.html). Note from asker:
Thanks Nathan! Apologies for not awarding the Kudoz to you as yours was spot-on in terms of meaning, but was not quite the right medical terminology. As always, you are very helpful! |
