neutral  Claudia Di Loreto: attenzione alla differenza tra 'acqua dolce', che è quella dei corsi interni in contrapposizione all'acqua salata, e 'acqua addolcita', che si riferisce all'acqua trattata per ridurne la durezza. Pertanto i due termini non possono essere sinonimi.

'acqua dolce' non è sbagliato, ma qui si fa espressamente riferimento all'acqua 'non dura' (soft water). In Italiano per 'acqua dolce' si potrebbe, difatti, anche intendere acqua 'non salata' (fresh water).

La durezza dell’acqua dipende dalla quantità in essa contenuta di sali di calcio e magnesio. Essa dipende principalmente dal tipo di terreno di provenienza. Nel caso di contenuti bassi si parla di acqua dolce, mentre nel caso di contenuti alti l’acqua è definita dura. Quanto maggiore è la durezza dell’acqua, tanto più alta è la formazione di incrostazioni nelle condutture e nelle apparecchiature domestiche, nonché il fabbisogno di detersivo per ottenere dei bucati di qualità soddisfacente.
