Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Annamaria Amik

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

crocox Aug 22, 2013:
Sure I understand, thanks!
Lara Barnett Aug 22, 2013:
@ Crocox Hi,
I hope you understand with my vague explanation. It comes down to the meaning of "through". "Through" here means that something has gone through some sort of process or system. The implication is that it has been obtained "through the system of handing down to the next generation". "By" as a preposition is used in a more direct context.
crocox Aug 22, 2013:
@Lara Mulţumesc pentru explicaţii!
Lara Barnett Aug 22, 2013:
@ Crocox The answer to your question is really down to semantics and English usage/tradition. For example:

"To obtain from another by coercion or intimidation."
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/extort

"Through" would be a safer preposition to use because using "by" indicates that the subject has made a concerted effort to achieve whatever it is. There may be a more technical way to explain this, but the reason is basically rooted in the usage traditions of our language. Therefore it would just sound a bit odd. It would be understood, but would not flow very well and may sound a bit uneducated.

Has to be rephased - like He had to carry on with the social duties that he inherited by being born into gentry.

Exact - obligațiile nu sunt obținute Daca era voba de avantaje - se putea spune ”birthright” - dar cu obligțiile este pe dos.
Claudia Coja Aug 20, 2013:
Cred ca as merge mai degraba pe ideea de "social responsibilities imposed by being born in a noble family..." pentru ca, semantic, despre asta e vorba. Daca discutam despre avantaje sau beneficii, acelea putem spune ca au fost "obtinute"... Obligatiile sunt mai degraba "impuse"...

neutral Lara Barnett : "By being born" is a bit clumsy in terms of grammatical structure here./// I am not sure of grammatical definition here, possibly this is an area for semantics. You "obtain" something "by" a successful achievement, but this has been passed on to person.

Thanks Lara, could you, please, explain why?
