El mecanismo de los cinturones es tal que si se tira rápido/duro del cinturón, el cinturón se traba, se atasca,no sale, de manera que quien está sujeto al cinturón no sigue moviéndose hacia alante y no se golpea con lo que tenga delante (el timón o panel delantero). Cuando disminuye la fuerza que tensa el cinturón, el mismo se libera y se puede mover libremente.
