Medical - Medical (general) / Hospitals
Italian term or phrase: ospedale classificato equiparato
This is at the top of a patient's emergency department report:

Ospedale Classificato Equiparato Sacro Cuore - Don Calabria

I've never seen this before and can't make sense of it ... what type of hospital is this? How do we translate it into English?

When I check online, it seems that this term is only used by this one site; I don't find any other hospital names that have "ospedale classificato equiparato" in them.

Thanks for shedding light on this.

accredited medical facility
Explanation:
In Italy, private medical facilities can ask to be accredited, meaning they offer the same (or some of the same) services as those in the public sector, and provide the same standards of care. So if I need an MRI, for example, when making an appointment I might be offered one at one of these facilities, by paying the same co-payment price as I would at a public sector facility. And these private structures undergo regular checks to ensure they meet the proper standards.

Thank you, Fiona. This clarifies and simplifies it for me. The next line in the heading of the report says "Presidio Ospedaliero Accreditato" which confirms your suggestion.

ospedale classificato equiparato

Explanation:
Look for Ospedale Classificato and you will find several examples.

You might use something like
"Private hospital with status equivalent to public structures" or
"Private hospital operating in agreement with the Health Service"
I would leave it in Italian though, and if you have space, add the above term in parentheses.
They also seem to all be connected with religious institutions.
