Мне кажется, такая версия подошла бы здесь лучше всего. А вообще - это нечто типа "поисков иголки в стогу сена", только сено в африканском контексте явно не годится. В любом случае по смыслу - затея, заведомо обреченная не то чтобы на провал, однако явно сумасбродная, если не несбыточная.

Here is the context:
In March alone, Malian forces killed at least 25 armed Salafist terrorists in several engagements. While the Malians were launching their offensive against the Salafists, the army of Chad also struck Salafist strongholds. Among the 43 Salafist terrorists Chadian forces report having killed was the group�s second in command, Ammari Saifi, also known as �Abderrezak Le Para.�
�Le Para,� as he preferred to be called, reportedly led the Chadian Army on what one officer called �a wild chase.� He was finally cornered and killed in battle. Nine Algerian fighters died with him, along with 34 men from Niger, Nigeria and Chad.
