Common Quail / Buttonquail

Hi there,
This is very tricky bird to find. this is a local name not very known like "زرزورة " for the swallow or "قعود" for little camel in Upper Egypt plus there is no context in your question or enough info about that bird over internet

but here what i was able to get
1- it's an immigrant bird
http://www.sudanway.sd/geography_animals_birds.htm

2- it sways , so it should be short , quite plump and fluffy
http://www.kowika.com/vb/showthread.php?t=20

3- it's Non-passerine, it feeds on seeds and insects

4-Comparing all of the above to a list of The Immigrant Birds in Sudan we can conclude that it suits the quail birds description
plus there is some similarity in the pronunciation

http://betasudan.com/immigrant_birds.htm
but which one, i can't be sure and based on my assumptions in the light of available info it should be one of these three
A-Common Quail
B-Common Buttonquail
C-Blue Quail

Hopefully that would be of any help :)

Hi i forgot to mention that it's edible

which adds another filtering step to narrow down the choices more and more towards Quail
Note from asker:
Thanks a lot for the effort you put into this answer. I eventually found that the term actually refers to "birds of Paradise," as confirmed by the author of the text. If I had not found that piece of information, I definitely would have felt comfortable using "quail" instead.
Peer comment(s):

agree Randa Farhat : Good effort! It could be the Buttonquail, السُمانى الحُبارية. It is not a quail nor related to it, has its own Family, Turnicidae. The part "-quail" in the name probably explains the Arabic part قيلـ
