If you have '通用' as a response in a survey, should it be General Electric or General Motors?

kevin321 Aug 31, 2016: as brands name in Taiwan, '通用' is for General Motors. General Electric is 奇異(the sound of GE)
Shirley Lao Nov 2, 2007: If this survey specifically relates to automobiles, then General Motors may be the intended answer. However, both answers may be acceptable if this survey is intended to study people's perceptions of certain brands.
