Dutch term

gunfactor

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) job description jargon

I've never come across this expression before and can't find it in any dictionary. Any ideas?
Proposed translations (English)
4 +1 customer willingness to award the order

3 drive / motivation

16 years later. Just happened to see this link...

Your own "customer goodwill" would get my agree here :)
Suzan Hamer (asker) Apr 15, 2007:
Forgot to ask: what did you come up with after reading the link you gave?
Suzan Hamer (asker) Apr 15, 2007:
I couldn't agree with you more. However, after reading the link you gave and others several times, I still came up blank... Rather than spend anymore time trying to reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd come here to ask if perhaps someone else already knows what I don't know and can't think of. I thought that is what KudoZ is for--to help out when one is blocked. However I see from the responses below that this term must not be commonly used or understood.
writeaway Apr 15, 2007:
very often one has to read the NL context and then come up with the English by oneself. Kant en klaar" translations aren't always available or the ones there aren't really good.
Suzan Hamer (asker) Apr 15, 2007:
Yes, you're right; I know it does. I googled before asking my question, but none of the entries provided an English translation, which is what I need. I ask questions here only when I've researched all I can and am stumped. Even with the link you provided (and which I'd already seen), I'm still not able to think of any good translation for "gunfactor."

customer willingness to award the order

You may have to play around with this phrase to suit your text, but I believe this is what it boils down to.

I definitely think you are getting closer, Suzanne, and I am glad to be able to help somewhat, but "customer goodwill" consist of positive attitudes and feelings. There are many Google hits as to what this consists of and may not imply making the sale.

Thanks for the points, but I just thought it was an interesting question to help solve. Did you see my note about 'customer’s inclination to buy'? Anyway, I think your solution covers it. I feel bad about Alexander, but I now don't feel good about making an entry into the glossary as I am not sure what to put.
Note from asker:
Thanks, Marijke. Your answer has helped me a lot. Still don't know exactly my final phrase, but feel like I'm getting closer to it.
Goodwill. I think THAT's finally the concept I was trying to get, "customer goodwill".
Thanks again, Marijke. I'm not entirely happy with "goodwill" either. I think I'm going to set this all to simmer on the back burner while I finish the assignment and then see what, if anything, bubbles up.
I'll admit it doesn't seem to have much to do with the dictionary definition of "gunnen, " but in this context at least, I would write: "Enthusiasm, zeal, willingness, readiness, eagerness." Future glossary users will have to see if it would be the same in their context.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "What a weird situation. It came to me eventually that probably what fits best in this context is "enthusiasm" or "zeal", so I decided to use "enthusiastic." The funny thing is this is quite close to the answer given by Alexander Schleber, so I would like to award him points also, but the reality is that it was your links and comments that got me thinking in the direction that brought me to a satisfying (to me at least) result. So--even though your answer is "wrong," your comments were most helpful."

is willing to share success

I think this might actually fit the bill here. Certainly as I don't think you will find a one-to-one translation will work.

you could put in terms of 'willing to share success, ideas, concepts..'

Zie bijv. hier: http://www.presentpresents.com/inhoud/Schatkamer-de_offertef...

drive / motivation

The only thing that comes to mind is the American expression " jumps at the gun" => i.e. get out of the starting blocks quickly to get a head start in the race.

Summer the is trying to use a chique word; I would change the sentence around in either use drive, motivation or self-motivation as a workaround.

Alexander, see my note to Marijke. If I could I would award you points because your answer is actually closest to what I needed in this situation. However, it was Marijke's answer that got me to where I wanted to be.
