English term

Is the tea ready yet?

English to Arabic Other Other
I.e. when you are waiting for the tea to brew, and are not sure if it is ready to drink or not. Incidentally, can you use خلص here, please?

Discussion

Stephen Franke Nov 30, 2004:
Cultural observation: that sort of question, said while tea is being prepared, would be considered impatient and rude.
Saleh Ayyub Nov 30, 2004:
This question is related to a previous posted question, so please keep your comments at the same question, and thre is no need to post it into a different on. This is because you are still asking about the word ready = Thank you

As noted in your previous question, خلص, according to the dictionary, is colloquial when used in the sense of "finished".
Hence, الشاي خلص is colloquial, but you can say something like:
"الشاي جاهز" or "هل انتهيت من إعداد الشاي"?

Yes هل خلص الشاي؟

and it depends on the dialect, and you may say:
