Oui, ce n'est certainement pas du même registre, mais j'ai l'impression que "qui convient à peu près" est plus une description (d'ailleurs bien appropriée) qu'une traduction. En quête d'un terme plus ou moins concis, je trouve "tuyau d'accommodation" très plausible à moins que quelqu'un d'autre a une meilleure proposition.

Will an English synonym help or hinder? A very close equivalent is "make-do", an adjective from the verb "to make do with". I haven't found a useful translation for an adjectival form (d'accommodation?), and, of course, the English term is very difficult to isolate on the web, both make and do being so common - every "learn English" site has them together frequently.

Peut être "tuyau qui convient à peu près".
déjà, "approximativement" n'est pas le même registre. "will fit" est familier.

"will-fit" means "a make-do, temporary replacement Many people will have a bit of hose somewhere in their garage that seems to fit, at least when you use sufficient clips, tape, brute force, etc. This is telling you not to do that as it is dangerous - wait until you've got the correct replacement part. I'll leave it to others to translate it.

La pièce détachée "adaptable" se réfère à des pièces qui se montent en lieu et place mais ne sont pas de la pièce d'origine.
